Malaika L. Torry is an author, creative director, publisher, actress, and founder of TorryGirl Media Publishing. With a background spanning entertainment, education, and corporate leadership, she is passionate about creating stories that inspire, empower, and educate. She has also served as a judge and evaluator for independent film, television, and creative arts programs, supporting emerging talent and storytelling across multiple platforms.
Her 10 book children’s series, Rebecca the Little Teacher, is inspired by the life and legacy of her mother, Rebecca L. Torry, a beloved educator who dedicated more than 40 years to teaching, mentoring, and serving children. Through themes of kindness, curiosity, faith, perseverance, and personal growth, Malaika’s books encourage young readers to embrace their unique gifts and make a positive impact in the world.

Her lifelong contributions to education and community service were formally recognized through a Missouri House Resolution and recognition by the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus, honoring her impact on students, families, and the broader community.
